I’ve just updated the blog search so that it now includes the newly added member interests feature.

Performance Tweaks

I’ve created an index of everyone’s interests, so this may make it easier to locate certain blogs.

I’ve made some slight performance-related tweaks to the site too, so if you spot any errors I’d be grateful if you could let me know.

Site Statistics

The site is continuing to grow, and we now have 301 active members (and 165 blog dots on the map)! Thank you to everyone that has supported us by providing useful feedback, and by telling their friends about us Please continue to build your personal profile by logging in and updating your blog description and interests. As I said a few days ago, I have great plans for your personal/public profiles, so please try to keep them up-to-date.

Finally, I’ve RSS-ified this news, so this should make it easier for you to keep up-to-date with all the goings on here

New categories, and blogger profiles, and blogger interests

Categories: I’ve just added the top-level categories Fiction and Humour to the directory, so if you think either of these categories are more suitable than your current one, please move your blog.

Profiles: Every member now has a public profile. You can find yours by clicking on the “I” symbol next to your blog in the directory. I’ll be making more use of your profile page in the future, so watch this space!

Blogger Interests: The new blogger interests feature is growing nicely, but for it to be of real use we need more of you to update your profiles! If you have a few moments spare, please log in and add a few of your interests to your profile. They can be anything from your hobbies or the films you like, to your political interests or favourite foods! Have a look at the ‘Popular Interests’ on the main directory page if you are short of ideas.

The BritBlog Shop is now open!

You can now get great quality BritBlog-branded gear from our newly opened shop. We’ve got T-Shirts, hooded tops, mugs, bumper stickers and loads more. It’s all great value too, so why not have a browse now?

Map of Bloggers in Great Britain grows

Had a great response from everyone at the weekend, and the map now has 152 blog dots on it. A large number of people have re-located their blogs to county level too, so this is making the directory easier to navigate.
