New BritBlog features and ideas

I’ve started to build a list of new features and services that we will be adding to BritBlog in due course. If you have any suggestions, please do let us know, either by email, or by leaving a comment here. We’ll be re-building the site from scratch over the next few months (once the server migration has happened…) so this is a perfect opportunity to suggest new features and to tell us how we can improve existing ones!

New affiliate scheme

You may be aware that we have been trying to generate a small income to cover the running costs of this site. Google ads were rather unsatisfactory, so after a recommendation we are now trying Paid On Results. I hope that the new graphical banners don’t prevent you from using the site – we’ve selected merchants that we hope you will have an interest in. As always, we appreciate any feedback you may have. If you want to try and generate some money from your web site, why not try Paid On Results too?

Update 09/11/2005 We’ve left Paid on results. Total waste of time – we’ve made just over £2.00 with them!

Happy birthday dear BritBlog

I nearly forgot: today is our birthday – we’re one year old today! At the time of writing we have 1706 active members, with 711 on the blog map. There are 936 blogs in the ‘Personal Blogs’ category, 125 based in London, and 332 people claim to have an interest in music. Interesting stuff eh?

What can I say?

I’ve been easing our new editors one at a time into their new roles over the last couple of days, and they’ve done a great job checking out the registrations before they go live. I can’t tell you how much of a help this is to me, and I’m looking forward to us all working together in the future as we enhance the back office system and bring new features on line.

A special mention has to be made of the sterling work put in by perlworld over the last three days – he has single-handedly reviewed 263 blogs. Great work!

I’d just like to say thank you to everyone who responded to my ‘plea for help‘ last week. Your support is really appreciated, and I’ll contact each one of you shortly with a little more information about what we need to do so that we can get the ball rolling. Once again, many thanks

Help needed!

You may be aware that we have a huge backlog of blogs that need reviewing (254 at the time of writing). Interest in BritBlog has grown a huge amount over the last two months, and there is too much for one man to do now! Right now I am after a handful of editors to help me review new blogs as they come in, and to help me come up with new ideas for the site, and to help me test new features before they are rolled out live.
