I’ve now set up part of the traffic tracking code for technoranki.
If you are listed in BritBlog, you can now get your tracking code (you must be logged in first).
I probably won’t get a chance to write the traffic-processing code until next weekend now, so this means your traffic data won’t be incorporated into the blog ranks until then. If you can start putting the tracking code on your blogs though it will give me some real data to play with, and this will be really helpful.
If you spot an error, please drop me an email about it, remembering to describe what went wrong and include any error message that may have appeared.
Remember this is all new code, so it hasn’t been properly tested yet. Please bear with us while we get it all working properly
Thanks!

P.s How do I add an image to my replies on here like you guys have? I can’t find where to upload it on on “My Account” ?

Have also added the tracking code. I dont quite understand what the little bar means though – I opted for the one that gives me a little red bar with a numerical value – any idea of what this means anyone?
To Mr Piggybank – I think the little images that some people have here are known as Gravatars and come from the site of that name http://www.gravatar.com. They allow you to have a picture to use on all site that enable their use. I have applied for one, but am still awaiting approval I think. At least I think thats how it works…

ps – oops – it appears my gravatar has been approved! there you go – it does work then!

Mr Piggy Bank, Jem is correct: you need to get an account over at Gravatar then all should work. Remember to use the same email address for your gravatar account as you do when you post comments.
Jem, the little bar is your ‘blog rank’ – an attempt to do something like the Google page rank. It’s a bit wonky at the moment (mine is way too high…), but this should get better once the traffic stuff is working.

I still have the orginal tracking code installed on my blogs. Do I need to upgrade?

Hi Stephen,
Yes, you will need to put the new code in place – sorry for not making this clear.
Technoranki is a totally separate site to BritBlog. (The plan is that other blog directories and so on will use it too.) So if/when you do update the code, please don’t forget to put a normal BritBlog icon back on your site again

added mine. just waiting for for the numbers to bound up in their ones and twos
January 31, 2006 at 1:20 pm
I have the code!
It’s a little embarrassing though, because I’m at the grand old count of just two.
It seems I’ll have go around the internet and beg more people to read me.

You know you can turn off the ‘blog rank’ display? If you don’t want to display that and just have a plain technoranki badge then you can choose this when getting the tracking code.
Basically, replace the number one (1) in the following image reference URL with a zero (0):
http: / / img.technoranki.com/tracker/1/XXXXXXX/(where
XXXXXXXis your tracker ID). The new image URL would become:http: / / img.technoranki.com/tracker/0/XXXXXXX/If you do change this code, it may take up to 24 hours for your icon to change on your blog. Your image is cached at the technoranki end of things, so it takes this long for the cache to expire.
Hope this makes sense – it’s been a long day!
